The Self-Confidence Formula…

The Self-Confidence Formula

First.

I know that I have the ability to achieve the object of my Definite Purpose in life, therefore, I demand of myself persistent, continuous action to ward its attainment, and I here and now promise to render such action.

Second.

I realize the dominating thoughts of my mind will eventually reproduce themselves in outward, physical action, and gradually transform themselves in to physical reality, therefore I will concentrate my thoughts for thirty minutes daily upon the task of thinking of the person I intend to become, thereby creating in my mind a clear mental picture of that person.

Third.

I know through the principles of auto-suggestion any desire that I persistendly hold in my mind will eventually seek expression through some practical means of attaining the object back of it, therefore, I will devote ten minutes daily to demanding of myself the development of self-confidence .

Fourth.

I have clearly written down a description of my Definite Chief Aim in life, and I will never stop trying until I shall have developed sufficient self-confidence for its attainment.

Fifth.

I fully realize that no wealth or position can long endure unless built upon truth and justice, therefore, I will engage in no transaction which does not benefit all whom it affects, I will succeed by attracting to myself the forces I wish to use, and the cooperation of other people.   I will induce others to serve me, because of my willingness to serve others.  I will eliminate hatred, envy, jealousy, selfishness, and cynicism, by developing love for all humanity, because I know that a negative attitude toward others can never bring me success.   I will cause others to believe in me, because I will believe in them, and in myself.

I will sign my name to this formula, commit it to memory, and repeat it aloud once a day, with full faith that it will gradually influence my thoughts and action so that I will become a self-reliant and successful person.

Your Action Step:

In chapter 3 of Think & Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill Spells out this Self-Confidence Formula in his discussion about how faith and achieving your definite chief aim are all part of the success formula.

Here’s what I want you to do:

Read this statement aloud to yourself for the next 30 days.   Commit the ideas to memory.

Write it down at least once per week in your success journal along with your definite major purpose statement.

Think on this formula and devote the time recommended in the daily exercise.

This should last for about 30 minutes each day.

At this end of this period of time, I guarantee you will find yourself feeling more powerful and purposeful to attending to and achieving your chief aim.

This formula is so powerful. I remember reading “Think and Grow Rich” several years ago and it did a great impact in me. I pursued my college career and personal development with great success. I know for a fact that when you have faith, believe in yourself and have a visual of what you want to accomplish, you will create results.

Confidence is definitely big in achieving success. If you are timid about things, people see it and think you may have a lack of knowledge or lack of confidence. It is hard to win over people if you are that way. For anyone who lacks confidences, it takes a change in your thinking from negative to positive. Know that if you fail, you can try again until you succeed.

    Hey James,

The book Think & Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill is one of my favorite self empowerment book. I read it four times and it’s full of personal notes and underlined paragraphs.
Thank you for sharing this formula!

    Hi James,
I wrote this self-confidence formula on board a few months ago…It’s next to my bed and I read it every-nights for a few months. I almost know it by heart and when I read it, the words resonate in my heart.
I relate to it so much and it’s as if I would have written them…You just reminded me to start reading it again…Thank you James!
